Obscure Wrestling News: TNA To Go PG! →
obscurewrestlingnews: According to our sources, TNA plans to change the content of their shows so that they can be rated PG in the near future! This plan is allegedly happening because of WWE’s recent success under the new rating, which TNA hopes to emulate. We tried to get Hogan’s thoughts on the change, but all we understood from all the rambling he did was “BROTHER!” We then had a female...

– Chris Shore, ProWrestling.Net I liked Cena’s promo on Monday a TON and I thought it was a great response to the Rock, but watching the replay last night on Smackdown (which was a replay and then turned into a replay of a replay, which got a little confusing and funny) made me pay more...

Typically, I am in the camp of people that go nuts over WWE’s production value.  Just about every replay promo they create is golden, and the packages they cut to summarize feuds are extraordinary. I think this was once instance where they got it wrong. Granted, how often is a speechless segment aired on WWE programming?  I’m willing to bet that number is zero, aside from last...

Mary believes the Cody Rhodes / Rey Mysterieo...
The symbolism is really great, albeit a bit obvious.  But I totally agree, what a meaningful feud! The arrogant narcissist is disfigured and humiliated and exacts his revenge by smashing Rey into a mirror and stealing his “face”!  I mean, it’s practically out of a Disney movie and that’s what makes me love it so much, beyond how well Cody did with his promos for the past...

Eric Bischoff Lives in an Alternate Universe
Eric Bischoff is a weird guy.  I have never (…ee…eee…eeeeeever) liked him.  At all. I never thought what he did in WCW was good.  Sure, he came up with the NWO, but I have since learned that he didn’t really “come up” with it, it was borrowed from a Japanese organization. Which is fine.  I’m not indicting anyone for borrowing and “adapting”...

– Hulk Hogan in an interview with Peter Rosenberg. He just doesn’t understand the philosophy, people. He just doesn’t understand. (via botchlog) pretty ironic words from the guy who (along with Eric Bischoff but I’ll say “singlehandedly” for better dramatic effect) singlehandedly...

writtenwrestling: I’ve never been to a TNA show, and I live in Mickie’s hometown so it’s not like she’s not going to be there. I’ve also heard that TNA’s shows are a lot more fan based, and have many meet & greets at the shows. I really want to go…except I don’t know how they’re going to set up the ring in a theater? I went to a TNA house show that was a lot of fun, and Scott Steiner...

thesquaredcircle: I have come to the conclusion that Michael Cole has no idea what kind of move the Anaconda Vise is.  After calling both the Koji Clutch and a triangle choke by it, I’m convinced that any time Punk uses a submission hold near the head or arms, he just says fuck it and calls it the Anaconda Vise. Pretty sure I heard him call a german suplex a “throw” on Raw but that...

TurnbuckleZine: I’m torn by this story.  Part of me feels like if it’s an organized competition and a gender-equal qualification, there shouldn’t be a problem.  The other part of me, the part that was raised not only by my parents but by society, believes that a man should never hit or fight a woman.  Case closed, no exceptions, etc.  Did I miss the memo where that became chauvinist? I feel...

CODY RHODES GETS A MASK
iatemykittycat: titantrononline: Cody Rhodes returned from his storyline reconstructive face surgery wearing a Mankind-like mask and called out Rey Mysterio. Correction: It was a basic face mask. Don’t be fooled. Here is an example, as modeled by NBA star Rip Hamilton. hahaha yeah, wait, what?  Mankind type mask?  I haven’t gone after this TitanTron blog like everyone around here...

In a recent episode of the Footnotes of Wrestling podcast, featuring Mr. Derek Walker, humor was briefly touched on by the two speakers.  I felt like this was an interesting point of discussion. In any sense or medium, humor is entirely subjective.  However, because wrestling is such a fringe and niche medium, potential for humor is so much more subjective and, perhaps because of the fringe...

I Bring It →
kickoutblog: Playing devil’s advocate a bit, but while The Rock’s return was fun, electrifying and has me quite excited for WrestleMania, it’s not the longterm solution to WWE’s issues. In fact, it could cause more. Things I thought briefly while the Rock was in action last night but immediately forgot in the euphoria of it all.  And much more well worded than I could have hoped.
